How to vote for the White Pine award
To be eligible to vote, a reader in a registered group must read a minimum of five books from the list of “Official Selections” for the given year. Groups may start to read at any time, but most don’t begin until December or even the New Year. Only the finishing date is fixed – voting day across Ontario is in April, however you can vote the entire month of April depending on your schools schedule!

Want help choosing your IRP book? Try
Novelist one of our TDSB library databases (UN & PW info on pg 14 of your agenda). Look for a sample chapter, description of the book and reviews from literary/library magazines.

You will be spending a lot of time with your IRP book making highlights, marking passages with post-it notes. This means you need to buy your own copy. To save money, buy a copy from a used book store. One of the best places in Toronto is BMV with several locations including:
o 10 Edward St (Bloor & Yonge) 416 977-3087
o 2289 Yonge St (Yonge & Eglinton) 416 482-6002
o 471 Bloor St W(Bloor & Spadina) 416 967-5757
Online booksellers include:
o ABE Books – purchase online, restrict your search to Canada or make sure the seller ships in Canada http://www.abebooks.com/
o Compare Book Prices online at http://www.comparebookprices.ca/
We have a display of some IRP books in the Reference section so you can “try before you buy”. Books for in library use only.
